Studying without a study permit

Students who come to Canada to participate in a course or program, such as a language study lasting six months or less, generally do not require a study permit.

Studying on a study permit

For programs longer than 6 months students will need to apply to a Canadian Embassy or Consulate for a study permit. To be eligible for a study permit you will need to provide a letter of acceptance from a school, college, university or other recognized educational institute in Canada and prove that you can provide for yourself and any accompanying dependents during your period of study. You must also be capable of paying for a return flight for yourself and those dependents travelling with you.

VisaVersa can assist you with your application for a study permit. For more information, please contact us.
