Online registration for the DV-2018 Program begins on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 12:00 noon (EST). The registration period lasts 5 weeks and concludes on Monday, November 7, 2016. More information about the green card lottery on the website of the Department of State, including instructions. Registering for the green card lottery is very easy and free. The only official website to register for the green card lottery is: https://www.dvlottery.state.gov This same site can be used from May 2017 onwards to check whether you have been selected.

The Amsterdam American Business Club (AABC) is once again putting together an all-night Election Event at the People’s Place near Leidseplein in Amsterdam for everyone who is excited about the American presidential elections! The H-1B quota for FY2016 has been reached within a few days. USCIS announced that it has received a sufficient number of H-1B petitions to reach the statutory cap for fiscal year (FY) 2016. This applies to regular applications (65,000) and applications that fall under the U. S. advanced degree exemption (20,000). Jan 21 2016 / Changes to the Visa Waiver Program
Travelers in the following categories are no longer eligible to travel or be admitted to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP):
- Nationals of VWP countries who have traveled to or been present in Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Syria, Somalia, Yemen or Libya on or after March 1, 2011 (with limited exceptions for travel for diplomatic or military purposes in the service of a VWP country).
- Nationals of VWP countries who are also nationals of Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Syria, Somalia, Yemen or Libya.
These travelers will still be able to apply for a visa using the regular appointment process at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. For those who require a U.S. visa for urgent business, medical, or humanitarian travel to the United States, U.S. Embassies and Consulates stand ready to handle applications on an expedited basis.
Mar 18 2015 / Updated visa fees at US consulate
The US consulate in Amsterdam has changed the visa fees for different types of visa applications. Visa application fees are published by the US Department of State. These fees have not changed, but the exchange rate used by the US Consulate in Amsterdam has. Fees are dependent on the type of visa application, and now range from van 152 euro (B, I en J-visa), 181 euro (H, L, O, P), 195 euro (E-visa) to 252 euro (K-visa).

DHS has announced that, effective May 1, Chilean citizens will be eligible to travel to the U.S. without a visa for tourist or business trips lasting less than 90 days. See the DHS announcement for more information.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has implemented an automated version of Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record in May 2013. Travelers can now retrieve their I-94 from a special CBP I-94 website.

The ESTA web application has been updated to allow for multiple applications to be submitted and paid for in one transaction. This change will allow efficiencies for both families and group travel by reducing the redundancy of having to submit each application in a separate transaction.
