Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme
This category is for highly skilled workers who are under the age of 50 and have been offered a permanent, full-time position by an employer in a designated regional area of Australia. The business must therefore be actively and lawfully operating in regional Australia (i.e. all areas of Australia except for Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong and Melbourne).
The job offer must meet certain skilled work crieteria and a Regional Certifying Body must have assessed the nomination in advance. Wages and conditions of employment must also meet Australian standards. There are three streams under this category. Certain applicants, such as tradespeople applying uner the Direct Entry Stream, will have to have their skills assessed by a relevant assessing authority in Australia, unless they obtained their training in Australia.
This visa is not subject to a points test.
